Every night I wander out to the coop to do bed checks on the critters. You know, make sure the ducks and chickens are all safe and sound and where they should be. This summer we had two stubborn Marans Roos who just would not go in the coop at dusk. Every night, with a lantern or flashlight in hand, I would have to locate them, grab them and deposit them in the coop. Now let me tell you, doing this with something in one hand was a darn right pain in the rear. I am sorry but trying to deal with livestock in the dark with one hand….. well I am sure we have all been there and none of us enjoy it much.

I originally wanted the hat for using during bed check time, and trust me, it is so much easier to catch critters with two hands and a light source that stays with you! It is so much easier to do a lot of homesteading chores in the dark now! We took it camping and it was a savior as I built a fire in the dark pouring rain. I have used it for household projects where I needed just a little more light versus those spotlight that blinds you. Recently the light bulb in the oldest country kid’s room broke in the socket and he used the cap to read stories at bedtime for a few nights till we could replace the fixture. This cap not only lived up to my dreams but has proven itself valuable in other situations time and time again. Oh and did I mention the night vision button? Awesome feature for seeing further and better when chasing those chickens!!!
The cap is not only stylish (I love the REALTREE pattern on mine) but the lights are well concealed under the brim! When we were camping, no one knew the cap had lights till I turned them on. At that point everyone had to pass it around. They have a whole line of caps for hunters, runners, service folks, you name it. They also have a line of glasses with built in lights. Might have to get hubby a pair for reading in bed…… Their products come with a limited lifetime warranty, and one of the best things is their company manufactures their products with recyclable materials. They also use minimal packaging which is awesome for the environment.
