Slow Cooker Sausage and Potatoes With a Twist

No one likes eating the same meal over and over. We all get into recipe runts. Admit it. When was the last time you threw something new into the dinner line up? I know around here, we tend to fall in the familiar food trap, you know the one, where it is dinner time and you start running through ideas, tossing out the ones the kids will complain about, and you end up with spaghetti, again. Am I right? I don’t know about you, but I am so over spaghetti!

One of the things I absolutely love about this recipe is how quick, easy and delicious it is! Not to mention, the ingredients are pretty kid friendly. With just a few ingredients and a slow cooker, you can make a dinner that the family will love. And the best part? You don’t have to peel the potatoes! Just rinse the potatoes, dice, and toss in the slow cooker

Who doesn’t love an easy to throw together recipe that you can start and then simply walk away from? Seriously, grab some tators, butter, and sausage and meet me at the slow cooker!

Start by dicing up around 6 cups of red potatoes and adding them to the slow cooker. If you are feeding a big crowd, you can add in a couple more cups of tators to stretch the recipe. For the sausage you can use what ever kind you like. We used a simple kielbasa that was pre-cooked and came two large links to a package.

Now your going to sprinkle the ranch dressing packet and Parmesan cheese over the tators and sausage. Top the whole thing with sliced butter. If you use less sausage you can always up the butter to 1 stick to ensure moisture. I know some folks might not was that much sausage in their dish, but my hubby is a meat love.

Now put the lid on and cook on high for around 3 1/2 hours. Don’t peek! If you let too much moisture out, the potatoes will not get tender. And no one wants a hard tator, am I right?

When the cooking time is nearing an end, you can cook up and chop up some bacon to top each plate with. This is totally optional but we all know that bacon makes everything better! You can also sprinkle a bit more Parmesan on top too if you like. Now serve and enjoy!! And you will enjoy, I promise!
