Quick and Easy Cheese Danish

quick and easy cheese danish recipe

I love cooking from scratch, but some mornings, I need a little help. I just can’t do it all or just don’t want to! Thank goodness for crescent rolls….. They can be used so many ways, for dinner rolls or for a quick treats like these quick and easy cheese Danish!

These Danish aren’t just quick and easy, they taste great too! How good? So good that Heidi the Homestead Hound stole not one, but two (at two different times!!!) right off the oldest country kid’s plate!!! Hope that taught him to pay a little more attention!

Ingredients

2 tubes of crescent rolls
brown sugar
1 8 oz pack of cream cheese
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Optional drizzle topping

¼ cup powder sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla
2 teaspoons milk

Start by pinching together two triangles along the seam to make a rectangle out of the crescent rolls. Next take brown sugar (around a tablespoon per rectangle) and spread it around the area. Roll the rectangles up long ways to make a log. Grab one end of the log and start coiling it up to form the base of your Danish. Make sure to pinch the seams closed so you don’t lose all that brown sugar goodness when you bake them. Now press a dent with your fingers in the center of each Danish, big enough for about 2 tablespoons of filling.

how to make a danish

In a bowl, mix your softened cream cheese, sugar and vanilla. Make sure it is blended well. Put about 2 tablespoons of filling into each dent on your rolled up Danishes. Pop those bad boys in a 350 degree oven on a GREASED pan for about 18 minutes.

I like to use our homemade vanilla in this recipe. You can see the tiny vanilla seeds in the photo, I love these tiny flakes of yummy goodness!

When the cheese danish are done baking, you can whip up a glaze with the powder sugar, vanilla and milk. You could double the glaze ingredients if you want, but my hubby doesn’t like overly sweet breakfast items. Heck, most of the time I don’t even make it anymore!

You will be the Queen of the Kitchen if you set a plate of this on your table!
