Take A Peek At Our Week Dec 31 – Jan 6

Take a peek at our weekNew year, new (mis)adventures! Welcome to our new website. It’s all the great stuff you have come to love, but with more! As a family we agreed it was time to take this grand adventure to the next level with our very own site, so welcome! I hope our new platform and URL lead to even greater things here on our site.

This week has been down right freezing. I am so over my skin hurting every time I go out to do the chores. Though it was rather comical to watch my sweatpants go stiff as a board when I accidentally slopped water on them during morning feeding time. And even with the minus degree temps, life continues. The country kids are back at school, hubby has returned to work, and there is silence (blessed silence) in my home!

So what made me smile this week?

The Fellowship of the Wing gathered to discuss their New Year’s Eve party plans. I’m wasn’t quite sure what was gonna go down, but I reminded them they would be cleaning up any messes they made, and then we all laughed and laughed.
I think Betty had a little too much fun partying on New Year’s Eve. I have no idea what those ducks got up to, but Betty looks a little hung over. I hope all of you look a tad bit better than this! New Year’s Eve should not end in a pile of snow for anyone.
It was Wanda’s turn to make me a hand warmer. I so love a warm egg in the pocket on the way back to the house after doing chores in the cold. The warmth against my frozen fingers is heavenly.
And this is what you get when it is really cold out…. Frozen rabbit water dishes. We also have frozen chicken waterers. And we have a limited edition frozen homesteadin mama. Someone said us Northern homesteaders rock. My replied was, “Only back and forth to keep warm.”
You might be a homesteader if…. you have poo and straw on your shoe. Getting ready to head to my doctor’s appt…. probably should clean my shoe off first!
Awwww Buffy tucked herself in! Insert head into fluffy feathers and begin snoring. Okay, she wasn’t snoring, but she was making the most adorable little trilling sounds as she fell asleep.
I made sure to give Larry lots of straw to cuddle in. I piled his food bowl high. Lots of fresh warm water and he still gives me dirty looks. It’s almost as if he is saying “be gone woman, your work here is done. Leave me in peace.” That or he is blaming me personally for the cold weather.
The negative degree weather really needs to move on. The chickens and ducks are getting cabin fever staying inside 24/7. Thankfully Wanda has been put in charge of games and entertain for the day and a wild game of King of the Hill or in our case Queen of the straw bale broke out. I guess since she is in charge of the game, she declared herself the winner.

Remember to take time out of your busy day to find your own things to make you smile!

On a 1/4 acre in a small town lives a slightly deranged woman who never thought she would be a Farm Girl again, then her son asked for a chicken! Welcome to my (mis)Adventures! My name is Mindie and I'm glad you're here!
