Take A Peek At Our Week April 15 – 21

Enjoy this peek at our week!

The ever changing Michigan weather has finally cause health havoc on the homestead this week. Say that 10 times fast! It was a constant game of passing the pink eye and some horrible sinus cold thingy to each other. Each of the country kids came home with one and then decided to trade with each other and of course infect me. I am too old for pink eye, ugh. And of course the cold kicked my butt worse of all. Getting older is heck. I don’t bounce back like I used to! Trust me, I was cleaning everything as best I could considering I felt like I was on death’s door, but the Homesteadin Hubby was the only one who was spared.

Despite being ill, time marched on. The critters carried on, none the wiser to their human’s plights. Though they did seem rather happy to see me this morning after falling of chore detail for a few days. And now that the weather is staying above freezing at night, I need to get back in the swing of things because the garden is whispering my name!

So what made me smile this week?

It was a rainy, sleeting, cold do nothing day, unless you were a duck. If you were a duck then it was a stand outside, splash in puddles, party in the rain kind of day!

The nest boxes have been empty the last couple days…. well guess what I found?!? Got ya you sneaky little buggers!!!

I noticed the vacuum wasn’t doing a very good job so I cleaned the filters. But when I tried again it was still missing stuff. Moral of the story…. if you haven’t looked UNDER your vacuum in a while, you might want to! Seems the men in this family suck everything up instead of picking up bigger items and I had to get down there with scissors and remove all the yarn and crap bogging up the roller. The hazards of having knitters in the family!

Bunny watch 2018: Day 33 and still no bunnies. I am glad in a way, because they weren’t planned, but sad because baby bunnies are so cute. But we really didn’t need any more bunnies!

The oldest country kid once again defeated my computer security and this time my computer ended up with some issues and a virus. I have been working my tail off trying to get it to even connect to the internet. *sigh* But lucky for me, one of the silky chicks decided to hang out with me as I worked. Having something cute and fluffy to pet kept me calm and I am happy to report I THINK I managed to get the computer working again, well enough to be able to take care of (mis)Adventures business!!!! Best office assistant ever, right here folks! Bless that little fluffy heart for putting up with my cursing.

“Excuse me, are you my mommy?” 🤣 Believe it or not, Ginger is slightly afraid of the little silkie chicks. She is curious, but since she isn’t sure what these fluff balls are, if they move to quick, she heads for the hills!

Everybody was kung-fu fighting….
Those kicks were fast as lightning…..
There was no rumble in the living room, it was just some chicks getting their exercise and finding out what those wings can do!

This cutie pie right here is taking donations for his fun-run-a-thon at school. You can donate by lap he runs or a flat sum. Fair warning, he is a running fool 😆 This year the school is raising funds for a new water fountain drinking station. Any extra funds will go to paint for the sidewalk chalk house on the playground. His pledge form is due May 9th and all funds are due by May 30th. If you wanna donate you can do so through PayPal friends and family to bornagainfarmgirl@gmail.com or email me for mailing address. He and the elementary school would be grateful for any support. Thanks!

When you aren’t feeling good and your nurse keeps checking on you but her nose is cold and wet. Bless her cold, wet nose heart.

Remember to take time out of your busy day to find your own things to make you smile!

  1. Aw, sorry to hear you were all sick; that’s no fun. Those sure are some cute little baby chicks though.
