Take A Peek At Our Week May 13 – 19

Enjoy this peek at our week!

It was a wet but productive week here on the homestead. This old girl is a little sore after tackling some major projects that included putting up fencing and transplanting flowers and herbs. But it is so nice to step back and see how far these projects have come this week!

I spent a lot of time at the country kids’ schools for various events. Why is it the school has to pack in so many parent events in the last month of school?!?! Don’t they know I have things to get done before my rug rats are home 24/7 for the summer?!?! It was nice though to see my babies excelling and being successful.

Gardening season has finally come to Michigan and while I have been planting my hiney off this week, it is time to focus on our food garden and not just plants that make our home look cozy. I have a bunch of tomatoes seedling I started that are begging to get their toes in the ground. Here’s hoping the rain stops soon because I have things to do!

So what made me smile this week?

And this folks is what two rained on silkies look like! It wasn’t pretty….. poor little wet mops. They still need to learn what to do when it downpours. *smacks forehead*

This is the note that came with my Mother’s Day gift from my hubby. He is too funny!

So what did he get me for Mother’s Day? This awesome gardening set and tool set!

Hubby got a new grill. When I said I wanted chicken on the grill, this is NOT what I meant!

A few pallets, a couple nails, and awesome hubby, and *BAM* a compost bin is born! Take that chickens! No more shall you spread my compost pile into a pancake!!! She ain’t pretty but she will get the job done.

This week was the littlest country kid’s fun run-a-thon fundraiser at school. He ran a mile and a half (12 laps) in 15 minuets! The money the kids raised will be used to buy a water station for the school that is both a water fountain and a water bottle filling station. So proud of my little guy and all the runners in his class!

The flock is slightly confused by the boarder wall being erected in the side yard. Sorry guys but you scratch too much and the dang ducks like to eat all my plants. When the fence is up I can start adding all the plants into my “forest” garden. I can’t wait till it’s done and I can show you around!

Spent the day at the middle school field and track day. The oldest country kid got 5th place in the shot put!!

The littlest country kid playing the xylophone at his spring concert! He did a great job playing, singing, and doing all the motions. So proud of this little goober!

Not all gardening projects include plants, well this one will, but not till the very end. I got my back door herb shelves painted and I am so in love with the color! They are going to match my hanging lanterns perfectly. I enjoy when a plan starts coming together.

I got the herb shelf done, including transplanting the herbs from the garden. Now they are conveniently located right out the back door and steps from hubby’s grill. Food prep just got a whole lot easier without having to dash all the way to the garden for fresh herbs!

The baby robins are getting bigger. I have no clue how they all are staying in there! It won’t be long and they will be leaving the nest. *sniff*

So this happened….. I haven’t had a pair of glasses in decades but being the maturing adult I am, I felt it was time to have a back up pair for my contacts. *sigh* Getting older stinks. Can you tell how thrilled I was?

Remember to take time out of your busy day to find your own things to make you smile!
