What a week! Mother Nature is back to her bipolar ways. We started the week pushing into the 90’s and ended with temps in the low to mid 70’s. And I am NOT complaining! But this up and down stuff is really messing with my garden. We have been getting down to the 50’s and even the 40’s at night a few times. Sorry pepper and tomatoes.
The oldest country kid went to his grandparents for most of the week. We both needed a break from each other. It is hard sometimes to homeschool a kid on the spectrum. Yes, homeschooling is over for now, but summer break isn’t really a break, we are all still here. LOL So it was time for a change of scenery for him. The littlest country kid and I stayed close to home, having fun in our own little corner of this crazy world.
So what made me smile this week?
My sweet little Ms. Fifi
He claims he was NOT playing in the dirt. Bwaa haa haa
Making breakfast sausage!
My new plants I got for $10 (and this isn’t even all of them!)
Doing yard work and finding grapes!?!?!?!
I love the chickens. Them eating my new plants, not so much. Scat, you rotten birds!
Now these flowers the chickens will never eat! Take that you naughty poultry!!
The raspberries are ripening!
The cabbage patch is doing awesome.
I let Mr. Bill try out the country kids’ pool. He was not impressed.
The oldest country kid’s annual flower project for the county fair in August.
What is it!?!?! The littlest country kid threw this plastic ball and all the chickens and ducks
ran to it. I don’t know if they thought it was something they could eat or what!
Now that I broke Betty from being broody, Baby Girl wants to give it a try. I found her nest
way back under a pen. See her eye in the first photo! She had 8 eggs which I moved to a better
location and I old her she has one week. If they aren’t developing by then, she is done.
If there is food, she is there. Watch out little bugs. She will find you!
Remember to take time out of your busy day to find your own things to make you smile!

I only do "free rang" my hens supervised, or they do the same thing, dig up my periennials 🙁
I love my plants, but I love my chickens more. *sigh*

Mother Nature is being a bit bipolar over here in the UK too – although the temperature hasn't got anywhere near 90 sadly! Some days it's not even getting to 70.
