Take A Peek At Our Week May 6 – 12

Enjoy this peek at our week!

This week has been one of celebrations! We got our tax return, which means we can get busy buying supplies for projects and upgrading things here on the homestead. I am such a penny pincher it is difficult for me to open the purse strings even when we can.

The oldest country kid turned 12 this week. It hit me, he is going to be a teen soon. Where did the time go!?!?!

The birds are nesting everywhere around the property. We have at least three different species with babies. It is fun to watch them and I can’t wait to see them fledged. Spring is definitely here!

So what made me smile this week?

Oh no, people….. well at least the homesteadin hubby needs to watch out, cause this girl has ideas! And those ideas means he is going to get roped into building things!!

Mama robin built her nest in a low bush and hatched four babies!
The littlest country kid was a bit worried about going to an Indian restaurant, but we like to expose our kids to new things…. I would say it was a success! He snarfed down the biggest plate of tikka masala and finished it off with some banana pudding and a mango thing. I was raised a sheltered, picky eater, so giving the boys an opportunity to try new things is important to me.

And this is why you don’t take everyone with you to the home improvement store…. The oldest country kid was crashed out on lawn furniture while the homesteadin hubby perused the over priced grills (see the arrow) and the littlest country kid was somewhere swinging his heart out on lawn swings. 😂 Me? Cinder blocks and 1×8’s!

So this is happening in my rain gutter…. Mourning Doves aren’t the brightest birds, but she is determined. This is her second year attending to nest in our gutter. I seriously don’t know how mourning doves aren’t extinct when they make the worst nests in the worst locations!
Hubby’s little silkies are adjusting to life as part of the flock. Their favorite part of being outsides are the sunbeams. I have never seen two chickens bask so much. They are forever falling over, throwing a wing out and taking a snooze!

The oldest country kid turns 12 tomorrow, so I picked him up a birthday present! If you don’t know what it is, it is a popper scooper! He has said a million times he wished he had one, so…. I thought he would be a little miffed at me, but in true country kid style, he was over the moon! Yup, who knew that the perfect gift for a 12 year old boy was a popper scooper, but it is! Oh don’t worry, that’s not all he is getting.

My hubby knows the way to my heart! He brought me 3 blueberry bushes to go in my fruit area I am putting together this year. I am so stinking excited! He also promised me a couple fruit trees. I am so excited to get to work and make it happen.

There is nothing more wonderful then a chicken with a fluffy butt!

Oh Wanda knows better! I have told them a million times to stay off the lawn chairs, but do they listen!?!?! I also told her when she jumped up there that it was wet from the rain all day, but she didn’t care

Lemon cake flavored popcorn…. It was amazing! Just take my money! And this is what happens when you go to Horrocks Farm Market Battle Creek Michigan

Took the country kids and friends to a trampoline park to celebrate the oldest country kid’s birthday. I managed to get all four in one photo! They had a blast. I got a headache!

Remember to take time out of your busy day to find your own things to make you smile!
