Homestead Happenings November 18-24

Welcome to another week of Homestead Happenings. I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving. It was a long week of prep and yummy goodness. From turkey and pie to my ever loved homemade Chex mix, our holiday was packed full of yummy goodness and quality family time.

Mornings are normally chaos around here. The country kids like to start picking on each other as soon as they roll out of bed. One morning I heard the littlest country kid scream “Mom, he is irrigating me!!!!” To which the oldest country kid replied “So I’m evenly dispersing water across you?!?!” 😂 No one should have to explain irrigation to a 6 year old before 7 am……

So what made me smile this week?

While getting up and getting an oil change first thing on a Monday morning may not be everyone’s cup of tea, I was on cloud nine! I was first in line when they opened. It was like winning the lottery, because when I called the day before there was a four hour wait. I was rockin Monday like a boss. It’s the little things that thrill me!
I finally got around to sharing the Mackinac adventure the littlest country kid and I took in October.  Join us on an epic adventure and find out what made me ugly cry 😂 It’s amazing the things you learn when you push yourself.
Heidi the homestead hound said she was chilly, so I let her borrow the scarf hubby made me 😂 Now to get him to make one for her!
Pumpkin pie heading into the oven…. The littlest country kid asked for pumpkin pie. The oldest country kid gets to pick the pie flavor at Christmas. So I made a pumpkin pie…. The littlest country kid didn’t want to cut it because it was “so pretty.” He began eating, raving how wonderful the crust was. As a mom I was on cloud 9 till he said “this is a great pie…. but I don’t like how it tastes.” 😂 Why he asked for a pumpkin pie when he doesn’t like pumpkin I’ll never know! But it was an awesome pie according to the kid who didn’t want to finish.
Hanging with the littlest country kid watching a holiday favorite. Trying to explain why she can’t keep skipping down the yellow brick road because she would smack a wall 😂 and then having to explain what a sound stage is…. I don’t remember asking so many questions when I was his age! Seriously, just sit back and enjoy.

Remember to take time out of your busy day to find your own things to make you smile!
