Homestead Happenings November 4-10

Well fall fell….. and a few days later winter showed up! It has been a week of “issues.” The country kids missed school due to a water main break. Hubby needed a ride home due to a serpentine belt break. And I broke because, well, I was just warn out tired. I was disappointed at my doctor’s appointment as I had only lost 5 pounds. I had been doing so well in my weight loss….. *pout* I’ve got a broody hen which I can’t seem to break (make her stop trying to hatch nothing….. she has nothing in the nest box, not a single egg!) And when the snow fell from the sky, my heart broke. I am not ready for frozen fingers at chore time.

So what made me smile this week?

The oldest country kid screamed in terror when he saw it on the wall. The littlest country kid just wanted to give it a kiss 😂 Said spider was relocated safely outside, but without kisses. 😂 Hubby said I still need to torch the house in case it had friends 😂 Can you tell which kid takes after who in this family?

I got the oldest country kid a brand new rake and we put it to good use with his FFA (Future Farmers of America) group. They helped the community by raking leaves for folks. Can you tell he was so thrilled that his mama was stalking him 😂

Excuse me, are you eye balling our pumpkin!?!? He was, because he didn’t give two 💩’s I was standing there. He stood in awe, eyes fixed up this glorious mount of yummy. Have at it little friend, just don’t tell the chickens because they would love to get there beaks on it.

My “I voted” so I can complain selfie

It’s beginning to look a lot like…. bullshit 😂 Betty and Baby Girl are not impressed. It is supposed to snow off and on for the next couple days. After morning chores, my fingers are a wee bit frozen. I think I’m already over winter.

So glad I washed all that laundry so he could cover it in fur 😂 Can’t blame him, it was fresh and warm from the dryer.

Morning backup at the nest boxes. Line forms to the right. Patience is appreciated 😂

There is nothing sexier than watching your hubby fondle yarn! For those of you who don’t know, my hubby is the Knitting Truck Driver. We went to the Adelaide Fiber Co trunk show at The Yarn Garden. It’s nice to get out without the country kids.

Remember to take time out of your busy day to find your own things to make you smile!
