The (mis)Adventures of a Homesteadin' Mama

The knowledge, skills, and encouragement to homestead where you live. Down to earth and full of humor!

Homestead Happenings December 23 – 29

We did it, we made it to Christmas….. barely! The country kids were cranky this week being off school. They just kept picking on each other and bickering to the point I started removing gifts from under the tree. Amazing how cooperative they became in order to earn them back!

I was a terrible mom on Christmas day, forgetting to take photos. I got a couple, but as I told everyone who was disappointed, I was living in the moment…. sorry. Sometimes you just have to put the camera down and enjoy life as it happens.

So what made me smile this week?

From our homestead to yours, Merry Christmas!
Christmas is done and the country kids are busy with new LEGO kits. The oldest country kid especially loved his new FFA shirt he got with his name on the back.
Good morning from (part) of our flock. It’s time to set your house or coop in order for the new year ahead. Out with the old and in with possibilities. Remember life is what you make it, so grab it with booth hands and show it you own it!
For Christmas hubby got me a new copy of Wii fit plus (the country kids ruin the original years ago) to help me on my journey to better health. I don’t like change, I prefer an “old friend” to hold my hand while I get back into exercising. I did 45 minuets yesterday and 30 this morning. What have I learned? Calf muscles burn, I can’t hula hoop to save my life, and moving a lot makes your inners move too. I should weigh myself AFTER I exercise and go potty!
When great minds are both dreaming of spring….. His and her’s copies! At least I don’t have to wait for him to finish up before I get a peek! Wanna bet they both end up in the bathroom? It’s the only quiet place to get a few minuets to dream.
When mama breaks out the GOOD cat nip
I ❤️ Yankee Candles! I usually make my own scented candles but I was lucky enough to be gifted TWO Yankee Candles this Christmas! I feel so pampered right now. My house smells soooo good, which is amazing when you realize it’s a Yankee Candle vs. a flatulent dog, a cat that drops bombs, two gassy country kids, and one bean eating hubby! That’s a quality product right there!
The country kids existing in the same space with killing each other! They are to busy working together playing some game I don’t even care to try to understand. Team work makes the dream work. Hey, I’ll take it! What ever, as long as they are getting along!

Remember to take time out of your busy day to find your own things to make you smile!
