Take A Peek At Our Week Jan 14 – 20

take a peek at our week

It’s time to take a peek at our week!

It’s warm, nope it’s cold, oh wait, it’s warm again. Just another week in Michigan! We had to turn the heat lamp back on over the waterer to keep it from freezing, only to turn it back off again at the end of the week to fling the critter shed doors open so everyone could enjoy the warmer days. My thoughts are turning toward spring, actually longing for it. I might have ordered some seeds because I really, really need some garden therapy!

We have all been hit with intestinal issues, poor Ginger the cat had to visit the vet for a skin condition, and now we are battling the melting snow and yucky mud. But that’s life and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Really! Each day is a new adventure and it is only as good or bad as you make it.

So what made me smile this week?

ducks at waterer
And with the temps going down again, I plugged the heat lamp back in over the waterer. Mr Bill was giving me an earful about how he was tired of frozen water. Dude, me too! Just ask my fingertips every time I have to break the ice out of the rubber pan to free the waterer. Maybe if someone, like, mmm, you ducks didn’t slop water everywhere we wouldn’t be having these problems. He was not impressed with my thought process.
garden in winter
I really miss my garden…. *sniff* But I know spring will be here soon enough!
Nail and wire door latch
When the wind is blowing and it’s colder than some not nice words, sometimes you have to improvise. Welcome to critter shed door latch 2018. Nails and wire make the world go round!
duck through pop door
Betty heading out to work, aka making sure the grass doesn’t run away. She is very dedicated to her position even when the snow falls. She know that grass is under there somewhere and she will sit in that yard till she sees it again! Yard sitting, it’s a tough job, but some duck has to do it.
beef and barly soup
I made some amazing Beef and Barley Soup this week. To my delight, hubby and the oldest country kid loved it. In fact they had seconds and left overs. I think it might have even been better the next day! The littlest country kid? He refused to take a bite. His loss, more for me!
chicken
Buffy told me she is over this winter crap. I told her to suck it up, no one is enjoying it. I also let her know we are supposed to get above freezing again this weekend! She scoffed at me. I don’t like being scoffed at by my chickens, or anyone else for that matter, so I told her to close her pie hole and just sit there cause it was too going to warm up. I really wanted to stick my tongue out at her, but then that would just have be juvenile. Because arguing with a chicken, when you are right, is not juvenile at all. Tell me it isn’t going to get warmer. I don’t see a smart phone with a weather app on it in your pocket, Buffy. Oh wait, that’s right, you don’t have pockets. Ha, I win!

This week we had a Facebook Live event called “What’s in my purse?!?!” You can join me as I clean out my purse and discover all the weird crap I have in there. LOL

Rouen duck Betty
“I’m ready for my close up, Mr. Demille!” Betty, Betty, Betty…. You are no Gloria Swanson and this is not Sunset Boulevard. But you are beautiful my

Remember to take time out of your busy day to find your own things to make you smile!
