A Week of Homestead Photos November 29th – December 5th

Another week has come and gone and of course I found things that brought a smile to my face. The snow has melted and while it is still around the freezing mark, at least we aren’t trudging through snow!

We have been busy, busy, busy with homeschooling, setting in feed and supplies for the critters for the coming winter months, and actually getting out and about to activities.

Of course with Christmas looming ever closer, I am feeling the crunch to finish up my handmade gifts. I think making gifts just adds an extra ounce of love to them.

So enough of me rambling, let’s get to what made me smile this week….

The country kids and I made a stop at a “mom and pop” doughnut
shop and picked up these fabulous, festive doughnut holes.

Nate decided I needed a sewing break and took my new cutting board and flannel cloth hostage.

The ducks didn’t give a hoot about the layer of ice on their pool, they just
hopped in and stood on it pushing it to the bottom of the pool!

I turned these totally cute tapestry place-mates into festive throw pillows. Did I mention I love sewing?

The frost on the shed shingles looked so lovely one chilly morning.
The country kids attended the annual 4H club Christmas party. They crafted,
ate pizza, played games, exchanged gifts and decorated cookies.

The ducks have been plotting….. Not sure what they are up to, but they sure are fun to watch.

My pig farming friend had babies on Saturday. It was in the low 30s outside. Three of the little ones (about and hour old) got very cold and were close to death when they were found. Like ice cold and barely breathing. This is the one I was working on trying to save it. This little girl is a fighter! Once she was warmed, I clean all the mud and gunk off her the best I could,  I fed her a bottle and she passed out in my arms wrapped in a towel. It will be touch and go for her and her siblings, but we got to them in the nick of time. Have you ever held a slumbering hours hold baby piglet in your arms that you brought back from the brink? Yeah, it will totally make you smile!
Remember to take time out of your busy day to find your own things to make you smile!
