Origami Chick Bookmark

These adorable origami chick bookmarks are fun and easy to make. In fact I might be addicted to making them, which is a good thing because the country kids both love using them. In fact, the oldest country kid who is 13 and turns his teen nose up at so many things in life now that he is a super cool teen, even takes them to school! I kid you not… 5′ 11″ manly thing he is, he proudly sports a chick bookmark on the pages of his “young adult” library books. I guess no matter how old you are, chicks are cool!

So how do you make this lovely little reading helpers?

Supplies

Yellow craft paper

Orange craft paper

Scissors

Glue

Black marker

Step 1:  Take a sheet of yellow craft paper and fold over one corner to create a triangle. Cut off the excess and turn your triangle so the long edge is at the bottom and the right angle faces up.

Step 2:  Next, fold the lower right corner up to meet the top right angled corner. Then take the left lower corner and fold it up to meet the top right angled corner.

Step 3:  Fold these two back open. Flip down ONE of the top sheets and crease.

Step 4:  Now fold the flaps you created back up and tuck INTO your bookmark. Repeat for the other side.

Step 5:  Use your scissors to slightly round the pointy corners on the book mark.

Step 6:  With the orange paper, but out a beak and two feet. The feet can be made out of little heart shapes. Glue them on to your book mark and then grab your black marker to add on the eyes.

Now you can mark your reading book with a cute little feathered friend any time you need to take a break!
