A (couple of) Weeks of Homestead Photos

What a crazy few weeks we have had. I so missed sharing photos with you, but my computer decided to get an attitude and had to go to the repair shop for a week or so. But I am happy to report it is back up and running like it should and it only cost me $65!!!! I could not have asked for a better outcome in the price department.

Sadly, we also had a lose here on the homestead. The oldest country kid’s pet quail became ill and passed very quickly. There was nothing I could do to save her, but his response was one of compassion and deep love. While our hearts hurt for her lose, my heart swelled knowing my son has developed such wonderful qualities.

So I went through my photos and picked out a few from the past couple weeks that in some way made me smile. I hope you enjoy them.

I was so proud of my oldest for wanting to make this headstone for his beloved pet.

When the weather turns chilly, it’s time to bake up an apple pie!

Someone was “helping” me with the laundry. I love taking a break! LOL

Mother Nature’s “wall art.”

Ms. Buffy getting ready for bedtime.

Lizzy the homeschool lizard is growing like crazy.

Realizing frost is ice, and he loves ice…. lick, lick, lick, ugh!

With freezing temps, and a frozen hose, a clean duck pool is something to celebrate!
There are three ducks in this explosion. LOL

Believe it or not, this is the SAME duck, 6 month apart. When Bill came to us, he was low man in a long lines of males. Since becoming the only male and a father too, his appearance has changed dramatically! I knew he was looking better, but wow! He is one handsome drake!

Remember to take time out of your busy day to find your own things to make you smile!

  4. Ducks are fascinating! I have a friend who swears they are better than chickens. I am getting more and more intrigued by them.

    1. I love my chickens, don't get me wrong, but my ducks hold a special place in my heart. They have so much personality.
