Organic Purifying Facial Cleanser (Because Homesteading Can Get Dirty)

Let’s face it, if you homestead, you deal with a lot of dirty things. The term “crap happens” is like a homesteader mantra and we mean it literally! What goes in, comes out of critters. And then there is the garden. Every gardener know that dirt don’t hurt, but it can get all over your face as your digging and then brushing the hair out of your face! Let’s face it….. Homesteading can get downright dirty.

Now I am not a girly girl, never really have been. I am all about comfort. When it comes to my “beauty” routine, I shower. Seriously, I am wash and go. Every once in a blue moon I might slap some makeup on for a special occasion, but most days I am all natural. But I have noticed as I get older, my skin is oilier then it used to be, not to mention the many impurities of life that set up shop in my pores between scrubbings.

I really didn’t give my skin much thought till the folks over at Block Island Organics contacted me. I mean between crazy country kids and off their rockers critters, who had time to read all the “wonderful” chemical ingredients on all those beauty care products at the store. Just walking down that aisle makes my head spin. Block Island Organics offered to send me a bottle of their Organic Purifying Facial Cleanser to try. I didn’t have to go to a store and rack my brain over what to buy!?!?! Sure, why not! My skin could use a little TLC.

Let’s face it, homesteading had been a little hard on my face! Remember how Mr. Bill used to fly into my face and run across it and up over my hair!?!?! Trust me, duck feet are NOT clean. There have been things on my face and in my pores that water can wash away but memory will never let me forget!

Let me tell you why I told the folks over at Block Island Organics that I would try their product….. They didn’t just slap the word organic on their items in a hopes to make more money. They are VERY serious about the ingredients they use and I like that. And do you know what I really love? On their website they list all the ingredients they put in their products. Each ingredient is clickable so you know what it is and why it is used. That’s pretty cool to me. You know exactly what is going on your face.

And what is also cool is what you’re NOT putting on your face! All of their products are free of parabens, sulfates, petrochemicals, phthalates, dyes and artificial fragrances.  They don’t do animal testing and use vegan-based formulas in their products. They do more then just cleanser, they are ALL about sun screen too!

Another reason I agreed to give their Organic Purifying Facial Cleanser a try is that Block Island Organics is a family company. Block Island Organics was founded by a Kelly, her husband and sister-in-law. Yup, there are real folks behind this product. They believe that skin care doesn’t need to be complicated, overly expensive or chemically manufactured.  They believe that it is their responsibility to educate consumers, provide quality products and simplify the skin care process. Can I get an Amen on that! I am all about affordable, healthy and easy!

So the company and product sounded great, but how did it work? I used the product daily for a week, and I like it! The first time I washed with it I didn’t notice anything right away. Well duh, silly me, it’s not chocked full of harsh chemicals that would insistently make your skin tingle. What I did notice a few minutes later is that my skin felt tighter (in a good way) and fresher, not tingly, but alive, if that makes sense.

After using the Organic Purifying Facial Cleanser for a week, I noticed when I wake up my face is not as oily in the morning as it used to be! My face really does feel so much cleaner on a daily bases after just washing once a day for a week with the cleanser. And the great part is I can totally fit “doing this” into my hectic schedule! I simply scrub my face while I am in the shower getting the rest of the daily crude off.

And while my hair continues to be a hot mess, my skin has never felt better! What can I say, I am past forty and maybe it’s time I start being a little (and a do mean just a little) bit more girly and take care of my skin. Let’s face it folks, we all only get one body and every once in a while we should be kind to it. I know my skin is so much better for getting all that homesteading dirt and “other stuff” (yikes!) off.

  3. It really is worth spending a bit more time on your skin as you get older – and this organic line sounds like a great way to do it! I was interested to read about the purifying cleanser. Our skin really does look after us and it's nice when we look after it too. Your skin is looking great! Thank you for sharing with us at Hearth and Soul.

    1. I was impressed with it. Trust me, I don't go putting my approval on something just because someone asked me to try it. I have to honestly like it. And I LIKE this, big time!
