A Week of Homestead Photos August 28th – September 3rd

This week has been super busy with me trying to get all my ducks in a row before my surgery, which happened on Thursday, thus cutting my week of photos short. Don’t worry, I will make up for it next week, maybe, if the pain killers have worn off by then. LOL

We said goodbye to all the baby ducklings this week and hello to a new member of our family, a pheasant. The oldest country kid thinks he is going to tame her and they are going to be best friends like he was with his pet quail. We shall see. For now she just hisses at us! I never knew pheasants hissed!!!!

So what made me smile this week?

My handsome oldest country kid. He is growing into such a little man.
Scary hot peppers growing in our garden.

Meeting folks who follow me and dunmping, ummm I mean giving them, some baby ducklings.

A boy and his new (maybe) best friend.

Pollinators everywhere!!!!

These beautiful wings. Amazing works of art!

Fiona (aka Murder Bird) because I swear she would kill us all if she could wield a knife! LOL
But the oldest country kid is smitten. Better birds then girls, I guess.
Remember to take time out of your busy day to find your own things to make you smile!

  1. We used to raise ducklings when my daughters were young. Such fun! I love these pictures. Thanks for sharing. Hope that you’re healing well from your surgery.

  3. Must have been hard to say goodbye to those cute ducklings! I didn't know you could train a pheasant but I wish your young lad luck with it πŸ™‚ Thank you for sharing this glimpse into your life with us at the Hearth and Soul Hop, Mindie.

    1. It was hard to say goodbye to the ducklings the first year we hatched some, but it gets easier each time as the cuteness wears off the poo piles up LOL
